Long Trip vs Short Trip

ME on a long trip

I pack 10 to 15 bags with “essentials”.

I sit in a cramped seat (near a crying baby who is also taking a long trip), eat a few peanuts, try to get some sleep with my head on a tic tac they call a pillow.

I am sleep deprived and my outfit is wrinkled. Half of my carefully applied make-up is now on the tic tac. (NOT as fresh as I can be)

I get dressed.

I walk down the block.

I get there with make-up and clothing intact, feeling refreshed from my walk.

An apple on a long trip

The apple is picked before it is fully ripe, decreasing its nutritional value. It is then packed into a crate with other apples that haven’t ripened yet. They are hosed down with chemicals that will keep little critters from eating them before they reach their destination.

The apple is transported thousands of miles over bumpy roads, surrounded by exhaust fumes.

The apple is bruised and battered and coated with foreign substances. (NOT as fresh as it can be)

An apple on a short trip

The apple is picked from the tree when it is fully ripe and bursting with nutrition. It is put in a basket with other fully ripe apples.

The apple is transported a short distance to the local farmer’s market or grocery store.

The apple arrives FRESH, delicious and drug free.
